Mint Green Love

Mint Green has been popping up everywhere, furniture, housewares, dishes, it's such a fun color too, this perfect shade of green, not too harsh, not too weak.  And you can coordinate it with just about any other color...

I recently scored a great deal on this adorable beauty, a little rough but nothing a little love and paint can't fix.  Earlier in the day I had seen a similar little cart at my favorite coffee shop, French Press.  It had napkins and spoons and what not on it.  I fell in love with it, wanted to wheel it out with me.  This one I found is very similar, a little rusty, but very similar.  I am trying to figure out how to paint it....first I was thinking the top shelf, spray painting a metallic silver color, and the legs Mint Green, or vice versa, or doing an ombre effect with shades of light to dark mint.

In the meantime, I will look for inspiration...

Black and White

From day to day, depending on my mood, or mental state! :-), my feelings on design can change, is that the same for everyone?  Or just designphrenics like me??  It can be a good thing, because you can learn to adapt and love different surroundings, or it can be a curse...for obvious reasons...

You can't go wrong with the classic black and white, it has stood the test of time, and has only gotten better.  You can always change it up with pops of color here and there depending on the season, or your mood.

With a sofa this color, silver grey taupe, there are endless possibilities.

I'm loving loving the boho feel of these pillows.

Rhysey Breezy's Nursery

I remember this one day when I was pregnant with Rhys, wondering if I was having a boy or a girl...  The only part of me that wanted a girl, was that it seemed so much easier to decorate a girls room than a boy's room...lol!  Well little did I know how fun it would be to decorate a boy's nursery.  I'm having a blast.  His dresser is an awesome vintage dresser that I'm having refinished, his crib just went up today, and the other details are just starting to fall in place.

Here are some of the pieces that will be going into his room.  Estimated time of completion: 1 Month!  Can I do it?!

It all started with this poster...I know it's been overdone, but I love it...

Super Rural

I mean isn't the grey just gorgeous?!?!

Then it was the dresser....  I saw it then scoured and scoured for a dresser like this so it could be refinished.  Just waiting for the paint so refinishing can begin.

This crib had me at Hello...  And for such a great price on Amazon, it was a no brainer.  I was able to sell our current crib for more than this one cost!

Then how can you resist a Spidey crib sheet for a little boy...  Surprisingly these are hard to find, this was handmade, I found it on Ebay.

And no boy's nursery is complete without robot art...

Throw Pillow Plunge

So I truly believe that throw pillows can transform your couch, your bed, your living space.  Whether it's a ton of eclectic pillows or just a couple simple pillows, it can change everything.  This is why they are so much fun, but also why they are so hard to figure out.  I believe there has to be a little bit of symmetry, but also you have to love each and every one, and sometimes just need to take a leap with both symmetry and ones you love.  So...that's what I did, I've ordered all of these pillows, plus I have some oyster linen ones and a gold sequin one already to mix in.  They look kinda fun here, but what will they look like on my huge white slipcovered sectional???

I have some dark grey linen covers made the color of these napkins.

I also want to get a black leather butterfly chair for the corner by the front window to use as extra seating and a cute reading nook.  And a cute fur rug from IKEA to go over it.

Safavieh Black Leather Butterfly Chair

After that is here, I need to decide lighting, side tables, where to put my small black frame wall and all sorts of other things.

Can't wait to show you the couch as soon as I get all the pillow covers!!  :-)

After we Dig out from under the Rubble

Well we are all moved in to the new house, and s...l...o...w...l...y... we are getting settled.  First was the big clean, remodeling sure does make a lot of dirt and dust!  :-)  Then there was the shuffling around of all our stuff, which is still in piles trying to find homes.  Now we are working on the details, lights, hardware, door knobs, etc.  But soon enough, hopefully, I will get to decorate, hang pictures, mirrors, sort out kids bedding, design a cool playroom, you get the point.  So I've been scouring (what's new) ideas and have decided on these rooms for inspiration.  I can't say enough how much these talk to me...love love love these rooms, and they are all from the same house, how can I meet this interiors equal?!  I would sure love to have a coffee with her and talk shop!  Until then, I will share with you the inspiration for my living room, the girls' room and playroom.  I love the clean white with pops of color.  I think my interpretation may be a little more shabby chic but we shall see...it's this stuff that charges my engine!  Hope to show you my own rooms soon!

This will work great for my girls' room, they are sharing a space now and I'd like to keep it really clean with pops of pink, yellow and black.

Oh my goodness, love love love love love the texturing on this wall. I am so doing something like this behind our bed.
Not sure I will do anything like this but it's super fun. What a cute little nook! Rhys' nursery is going to be pretty darn cute, can's wait to show you.
I've been working on a little black frame wall for a while now...this is a cute one..
My living room...uh er I mean it will be! So cute. My couch is white but other than that, I can do this...
Love...

Much Needed Break and a Blessed New Year

Happy New Year!
Since my last post, not only did I completely renovate a new home, move myself and family, I celebrated during the holiday the birthdays of my three children in December, my oldest turned 4, second turned 2 and our new addition came into our lives and blessed our family with his safe arrival.  Needless to say, I've been and am extremely busy, but I'm ready to get back on the saddle, at least part time. :-)  Oh how I've missed Maeve James!  I can 't wait to show you the new cottage abode, some of the renovations, and my vision for it's future design...on a budget!  :-)  Oh the fun we will have!  So anyhow, Happy New Year, may the year be filled with love, fortune, and fun!

Peace,
Jill
